BOLT - Boosters of Lightning Theatre

 

Who?  Parents and others who want to help support the many activities of the high school theatre department.

When?  Meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month (September - May) from 6:30 - 8:00 PM.

Where?   Mr. Parker’s room

Why?  To help with Haunted House, One Act, Drama Day, Improvedy, the Musical, the Spring Play, Banquet, etc.

Definitions:

Haunted House:  The major theatre department fundraiser for the year, it is planned, built, and staffed by the students of Drama Club.  BOLT sells concessions and tickets.  Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of the weekend before Halloween.

One Act:  A one-act performance that is honed and polished for competition.  Local, regional, and state meets are held each fall.  Rehearsals and competitions run from September to November.

Drama Day:  A one-day camp offered to local elementary and middle school children and taught by the high school students.  Held three times a year.

Improvedy:  North’s Improv troupe in the style of “Who’s Line Is It Anyway?”  They perform 4 public shows per year, plus extra gigs for office parties or company workshops.

Musical:  Large production that takes place from January through March.  Over 150 students are involved as part of the cast, crew, and pit orchestra.

Spring Play:  A non-musical play that takes place from March through May.

Banquet:  Recognition dinner for all theatre participants - usually held in late May or early June.  Also time to recognize and thank Parker and adult volunteers.

BOLT volunteers work in many capacities to support the lively theatre arts program at ANHS.

  • Build sets under the direction of our technical director.  
  • Sew costumes under the guidance of our creative costume designer.  
  • Craft and create puppets, masks, and hats.
  • Prepare programs, publicity, and posters. 
  • Sell tickets, trinkets and t-shirts.   
  • Feed the weary cast and crew on those long dress rehearsal days.  
  • Provide healthy snacks for all those haunted house ghouls and ghosties.
  • Whatever else Parker thinks of...
