Summer Shakespeare to present &Juliet
Benefit Performance of & Juliet Pilot Musical Added to Help Those Affected by Recent Tornado
Summer Shakespeare Theatre, a program of the Fox Valley Summer School Consortium, has received special permission from Musical Theatre International to add a performance of their recently opened musical of & Juliet High School Version on Saturday, August 1, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Appleton North High School Auditorium. All proceeds will be applied toward relief efforts for victims of the July 27th devastating tornado that swept through the Fox Valley. Director Ron Parker stated, “Our cast and crew are made up of students from eight different high schools across our area. Many of them and their families were directly impacted by the storm, and many more know someone who was. This is a chance for our students to make their art make a much-needed difference for our community.”
Those attending Saturday’s benefit matinee will have the opportunity to see both casts in one performance. “The pilot is double cast, which means two students alternate playing roles for every other show. For the benefit, one cast will perform the first act, and the other will perform the second,” said Parker.
Tickets for the benefit performance are $20. 100 percent of ticket and concession sales will be donated to the relief effort. Patrons are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, which will be distributed to organizations providing help to those impacted by the storm. Additional monetary gifts will also be accepted.
